Background

Background: The refurbishment of the Bradford Royal Infirmary Health Library provides an invaluable reference resource for doctors and nurses that can be quite literally life saving.

The brief was to provide a clearly defined and efficient space that complemented the existing fabric of the building and the variety of uses and challenges imposed upon the library.

The Challenge

The Challenge: The key challenge in designing this library was not only to provide a space that was light, airy and welcoming but also to design a layout that was simple and efficient for the infirmary's busy doctors and nurses.

In addition to which, the library needed to offer easy seating to aid relaxation and to provide quiet study areas for its student population.

Our Solution

Our Solution: Our solution was to utilise our Reflection shelving system in Silver and Beech, complemented by calming cream furniture.

The overall use of space is simple, clear and easy to navigate and the clearly defined easy seating and study areas provide for relaxed yet productive work.

The Health Library remains an invaluable asset to Bradford Royal Infirmary.
